CAMPTON, N.H. (AP) - Authorities are urging visitors to New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest to plan ahead and stay safe this holiday weekend.

Forest Supervisor Tom Wagner says those who plan to camp or spend time in the forest this weekend should know that fireworks of any kind are not permitted. Officials also remind visitors that weather in the White Mountains can be unpredictable, with rain, snow and fog possible at any time of year, even in early July.

Hikers are advised to check the forecast before heading out, and to bring along warm clothing and good rain gear.
