BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - University of Vermont police have released the name of a construction worker fell about six stories to his death from a building site at the college.

Police say 61-year-old Dennis Longe, of Jeffersonville, was pronounced dead at the scene after the fall that happened at about 6:40 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say he was wearing a safety harness when he fell.

The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/29jQowD ) that Longe was working on the construction of a new residence hall at UVM’s central campus. The incident remains under investigation.

The University of Vermont was founded in 1791 and is among the oldest universities in the U.S.
