DUMMERSTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont state police have cited an East Ryegate motorcyclist for excessive speed and negligent operation after clocking him driving 122 mph on Interstate 91 in Dummerston.

Authorities say 32-year-old Jason Esposito is due in superior court in Windham on Aug. 23 on both charges.

Police say the posted speed limit on the stretch of highway where Esposito was stopped just before 3 p.m. on Friday is 65 mph.

Esposito was stopped by members of a stepped-up enforcement detail known as the Combined Accident Reduction Effort, or CARE.

Police say CARE details will be out in force throughout the July 4th holiday weekend.
