MACEDON, N.Y. (AP) - A passenger has died after a car was struck by an industrial-sized barbecue grill that had come loose from a recreational vehicle.

The accident happened on Route 31 in the Wayne County town of Macedon shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday. Macedon Police Chief John Colella says an RV that was towing the cooker hit a bump and the grill broke loose, striking an oncoming car.

The car’s passenger was killed instantly. The driver was airlifted to a Rochester hospital and has since been discharged.

The Palmyra-Macedon school district identifies the passenger as Seth Krebbeks, a 2015 graduate. The district says the driver, Jared Jones, is a student at Palmyra-Macedon High School.

The district says grief counselors will be available at the high school Tuesday through Friday.
