LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - A Louisiana State Police trooper has found a 45-year-old grandfather and a 3-year-old grandchild who were reported missing from the New Orleans area.

Both were safe, and they have been reunited with relatives.

State police say in a news release that family members said the grandfather, Roland Williams, has a medical condition that impairs his judgment. He and the child, Roshei Selmon, were reported missing about 3 a.m. Monday.

The news release says a trooper found them about three hours later in a convenience store off Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish, and gave them food and water while they waited for family. An ambulance crew checked their health before they went home.

The trooper’s name was not immediately released.
