SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - For the second time in two days, a man has been shot dead on a Syracuse street.

City police say 29-year-old Jamall Kelly was found on Westcott Street shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday after several 911 calls about shots fired in the area. Police say Kelly died shortly after arriving at Upstate University Hospital. It was the city’s 17th homicide this year.

Police say a possible suspect was seen running away through backyards.

Just over 24 hours earlier, police say 34-year-old Nathan Chandler was found shot on North Salina Street. He died later from his injuries.

There was another shooting on Westcott Street on June 5, when a man was shot in the foot outside an anti-gun-violence concert at the Westcott Theater.
