SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. (AP) - A suspect has been arrested at a beach in South Lake Tahoe on suspicion of being a parolee in possession of a firearm.

South Lake Tahoe police said in a statement Monday Sean Francis Wanamaker was arrested at Stateline Beach on Sunday after he allegedly brandished a gun during an argument at a local Motel 6 the night before.

A SWAT team responded to the scene Saturday night, but police say Wanamaker eluded capture until a tip from a witness led officers to his location Sunday.

Police say he tried to run and hid in a nearby bathroom before officers arrested him at the beach on U.S. Highway 50 west of the Nevada casino district and east of the Tahoe Keys. He was being held Monday without bail in the El Dorado County Jail.
