ROTTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - Feyenoord goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer has ruptured his Achilles tendon and will be sidelined for the rest of the year.

The Rotterdam club says Vermeer will undergo surgery after being injured in training on Tuesday.

Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie last season, 21 points adrift of champion PSV Eindhoven.

The 30-year-old Vermeer, a former Ajax goalkeeper, has played five times for the Netherlands.
