HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A 40-year-old Helena man was killed in a weekend crash south of Hauser Dam.

Lewis and Clark County officials say Andrew David DeSwart was traveling along Hauser Dam Road early Saturday when his vehicle went off the road on a curve, rolled down a steep embankment and landed in Hauser Lake, where the water is about 47 feet deep.

The Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/29e4FHq ) the crash was reported just after 2:30 a.m.

Deputy Coroner Bryan Backeberg says divers recovered DeSwart’s body at about 9:45 a.m. His sport utility vehicle was pulled from the water just after noon.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the crash is still being investigated.
