BUTTE, Mont. (AP) - A former Montana State Prison employee has pleaded guilty to having sex with an inmate.

The Montana Standard reports (http://bit.ly/1U9OSwd ) that Sherrill Dawn Kraakmo admitted to one count of sexual intercourse without consent at a change of plea hearing on Thursday. She also pleaded guilty to transfer of illegal articles and unauthorized communication.

Court records allege Kraakmo, who worked for Montana Correctional Enterprises, gave a cellphone and charger to an inmate and communicated with him outside of her work duties. She’s also accused of having sex with the inmate, who is serving 20 years for rape.

Kraakmo has previously said the inmate initiated, pursued and manipulated her into having a sexual relationship.

Under state law, inmates cannot legally consent to sex.
