CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - Jurors are expected to view security video Thursday in the first trial of a man accused of killing two people in Cedar Rapids last fall.

The first trial of 44-year-old Travis Standlee got underway Wednesday. He’s charged with strangling 56-year-old Raymond Ursino in a church parking lot on Sept. 5. He’s also accused of killing 41-year-old Sharon Mead a few days later. Her body was found near the Coe College campus. His trial on that murder charge is scheduled for August.

Prosecutor Jordan Schier said in his opening statement that the video will show Standlee grab Ursino by the throat. Defense lawyer David Grinde said the video isn’t clear that jurors won’t be able to see what Schier described.
