PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Glendale man is in custody for allegedly attacking his wife with a knife.

Police say 53-year-old Juan Vargas Rodriguez is being held on suspicion of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to the police report, officers responded Sunday to the 911 call of a woman who said she had been stabbed by her husband.

She says Rodriguez thought she was cheating on him and he told her to sleep in the closet.

Rodriguez allegedly grabbed her by the throat and pulled a large, serrated knife from his waistband.

She says he swung the knife at her and cut her left forearm and bicep.

Rodriguez’s daughter pulled him off of his wife and took the knife away.

He told police that he blacked out with rage.
