DENVER (AP) - Authorities say a Denver police officer has been struck on an interstate while handling a call for assistance.

The crash happened Friday morning on Interstate 70. Investigators tell KMGH-TV (http://bit.ly/28RvHsy ) that the fire department was initially summoned for a vehicle fire. As the fire was being extinguished, another vehicle crashed into the officer’s car.

The Denver Police Department says the officer’s injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.
