EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a homeless man whose decomposing body was found in a wooded area behind a northeastern Pennsylvania Kmart shopping plaza had been stabbed to death.

State police in Luzerne County say the body of 49-year-old Kurt Swann was found Saturday behind the Kmart Shopping Plaza in Edwardsville.

A forensic pathologist said Tuesday that Swan died of multiple stab wounds. Authorities described him as homeless and said they didn’t how long his body had been there.

The (Wilkes-Barre) Times Leader said he was interviewed in 2012 and had been living in a camp in Kirby Park near the Susquehanna River, not far from where his body was found.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about his death to call investigators.
