SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Latest on a Utah trucker pleading guilty to holding women as sex slaves as he drove across the country. (all times local):

A Utah trucker accused of keeping women as sex slaves in his semi-trailer as he drove across the country is agreeing to a plea deal with prosecutors days before his trial was sent to begin.

Timothy Jay Vafeades (vah-fea-AH-des) is facing 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of transporting for illegal sexual activity on Thursday.

He was accused of luring two women ages 18 and 19 to his truck called “Twilight Express,” then forcibly altering their appearances and grinding down their teeth while holding them prisoner and sexually assaulting them for months.

Prosecutors say the 56-year-old Vafeades had four more victims in the two decades before his 2014 arrest and they planned to use those cases as evidence against him, though those cases were too old for new charges.

A Utah trucker accused of keeping women as sex slaves in his semi-trailer as he drove across the country is set for a change for plea hearing.

Court records show Timothy Jay Vafeades (vah-fea-AH-des) is set to appear in court Thursday, less than a week before his trial was set to begin. He’s accused of luring two women ages 18 and 19 to his truck, then forcibly altering their appearances and grinding down their teeth while holding them prisoner for months.

The 56-year-old man could be facing life in prison on federal charges that include kidnapping and transporting for illegal sexual activity.

Prosecutors say Vafeades had four more victims in the two decades before his arrest.

His defense attorneys have challenged his 2014 arrest that started with an old protective order, but a judge disagreed.

This story has been corrected to show Vafeades is 56, not 60.
