CARY, Ill. (AP) - Theater students at Cary-Grove High School found their glass slipper.

The high school’s musical “Cinderella” won a first-ever award for “Best Production” at the Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards in Chicago.

The (Crystal Lake) Northwest Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1OeAELa ) the spring production was tops among more than 70 participating high schools. It was honored at Water Tower Place in Chicago in a ceremony sponsored by Broadway in Chicago.

It was the first time in the five-year history of the program that Broadway in Chicago presented a best-production award along with nominations for high school actors and actresses.

Three members of the “Cinderella” cast were among 12 actors and 12 actresses named finalists for individual awards. They participated in day-long workshops and auditions for a panel of casting agents.
