DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit People Mover elevated rail service is closing for about two weeks for track work and other construction.

The city of Detroit says construction will begin following a full service day on Saturday that ends at 2 a.m. Sunday. The system is set to resume its normal operating schedule at 6:30 a.m. on June 27 after a rail switch and a section of track are replaced.

Officials say the rail replacement is necessary as a result of wear on the track that’s typically seen in rail systems. Details of the project are posted online.

Those who use the service may use downtown bus lines as an alternative during the shutdown.
