RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - In a story March 17 about the arrest of a foster parent on sex abuse charges, The Associated Press misspelled the suspect’s last name. He is Cesar Gonzales-Mugaburu, not Cesar Gonzalez-Mugaburu.

A corrected version of the story is below:

DA: NY foster parent accused of sexually abusing children

Long Island prosecutors say a foster parent has been indicted on charges alleging that he sexually abused children in his care

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Long Island prosecutors say a foster parent has been indicted on charges alleging that he sexually abused children in his care.

Cesar Gonzales-Mugaburu, of Ridge, is expected to be arraigned Friday in state Supreme Court in Riverhead.

Suffolk prosecutors say the 60-year-old has been arrested on child endangerment and sexual misconduct charges.

Authorities allege Gonzales-Mugaburu sexually abused foster children who were placed in his care by New York City child welfare officials and a non-profit group on Long Island. Prosecutors say he is accused of victimizing seven children. Their ages were not immediately released.

A spokeswoman for New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services didn’t immediately comment on the allegations.

Attempts to reach Gonzales-Mugaburu’s attorney on Thursday night were unsuccessful.
