FULTON, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas highway officials will narrow a portion of Interstate 30 in the southwestern corner of the state for the rest of the year so crews can resurface the roadway.

Travel will be restricted to one lane in each direction beginning Tuesday along a four-mile section near Fulton. Eastbound lanes will be resurfaced first, then work will begin on the westbound lanes.

Traffic will be crossed over the median to adjoining travel lanes at each end of the construction project until the rest of the year. Concrete barriers will separate traffic going in opposite directions.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department says the work should be completed in late 2016, weather permitting.

Fulton is between Hope and Texarkana in southwestern Arkansas.
