WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating human remains found inside a Woodbridge townhome that was the site of a fire earlier this week.

Prince William County police spokesman Nathaniel Probus says firefighters were unable to search the home early Wednesday because of unsafe structural conditions. As the investigation continued, authorities learned that one resident was unaccounted for.

It is unclear whether the remains that investigators found on Thursday are those of the missing resident.

Authorities say the blaze displaced six adults and three children, with one firefighter receiving a minor injury.

Probus says authorities are working on identifying the remains as well as investigating the cause of the fire.
