BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A cruise boat owned by the Lake Champlain Ferries is headed to a new home in the Boston area.

The Burlington-based “Northern Lights” is being sold to Classic Harbor Cruises in Boston.

The Burlington Free Press (bfpne.ws/1Mq5XMH) reports Lake Champlain Ferries officials say the season is too short and the market is too small on Lake Champlain for the 155-foot-long cruise boat, which has a top speed of 15 knots and a 150-passenger capacity.

The ferry company operates a number of Lake Champlain ferries. It says its “next door neighbor” on the Burlington waterfront, the Spirit of Ethan Allen cruise boat, is doing a “fantastic job” with their cruise boat.

The Northern Lights is expected to depart for Boston as soon as the Champlain Canal opens for the season.
