MOSCOW (AP) - Ahmed Musa struck twice for CSKA Moscow to beat Kuban Krasnodar 2-0 and put the Army Men back on top in the Russian Premier League on Saturday.

Both teams struggled at times with a badly worn pitch at CSKA’s ground in Khimki, near Moscow, and Kuban failed to hit a shot on target all game. Musa scored his eighth and ninth league goals.

“I’m happy with the whole game. We kept up the pressure all game, even on such a poor pitch,” CSKA coach Leonid Slutsky said.

The win left CSKA two points clear at the top as it hunts a fifth post-Soviet league title.

Surprise contender FC Rostov led going into the weekend but could manage only 0-0 against Amkar Perm on Friday.

Spartak Moscow was third after Ze Luis scored twice in a 4-0 win over relegation-threatened Anzhi Makhachkala on Friday.

Dynamo Moscow has flirted with the relegation zone this season but rose to 10th when Fatos Beciraj scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over FC Ufa in strong winds and sleet.

Ural Yekaterinburg rested key players but somehow managed to scrape draw at Terek Grozny 1-1.

Defending champion Zenit St. Petersburg was in an unfamiliar seventh position but could rise as high as third with a win over Krylya Sovetov Samara on Sunday, when other fixtures pit Rubin Kazan against Mordovia Saransk, and Lokomotiv Moscow hosts FC Krasnodar.
