WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say a 21-year-old man has died after being shot in southeast Washington.

The Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that at around 4:20 p.m. Monday officers heard the sound of gunshots in the 2700 block of Langston Place SE and responded to the location. Police say when they arrived they found 21-year-old Adam Edwin Barker of southwest Washington suffering from a gunshot wound. Police say Barker was taken to a hospital but died Tuesday.

Police did not release any information about who may have shot Barker or what led to the shooting.
