A newspaper reporter said the Ted Cruz campaign has apologized to her personally after she accused a security officer of manhandling her on the campaign trail Monday.

“.@tedcruz campaign security officer just grabbed my purse to keep me from interviewing him and all but pushed me into a wall,” tweetedEmma Dumain, a Washington correspondent for The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina.

“Campaign staff apologetic about incident — it was one individual — but that security guard needs to be retrained,” she wrote. “.@tedcruz security officer brought out to explain he was trying to do his job, didn’t know who I was. Appreciate the gesture. Still miffed.”

Ms. Dumainclarified that her experience was “not at all like what has been reported out of Trump rallies,” adding, “I was not hurt.”

“I appreciate Cruz campaign’s proactive effort to clear up misunderstanding. I still don’t think I should have been treated like that,” she wrote. “Personal apology from Cruz and got my interview. Appreciated the gesture very much.”

Time magazine reporter Zeke Miller backed up Ms. Dumain’s account, tweeting, “Witnessed this. Campaign was apologetic after the incident.”
