BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) - An appeals court has upheld a centuries-long sentence imposed two years ago against a central Pennsylvania man convicted of raping three girls over a period of several years.

Thirty-four-year-old Joseph Bailey Sr. was deemed a sexually violent predator and sentenced to minimum 203 to 406 years by a Centre County judge for what prosecutors called a sexual “reign of terror” on young people.

The Centre Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1WNKx1M ) reports the Superior Court has refused to overturn the sentence “given the egregious pattern of sexual abuse and the resultant physical and emotional harm” to the girls.

The Fleming man was convicted of sexual assault, rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and other charges for the assaults between May 2008 and August 2012.
