PELION, S.C. (AP) - A Pelion couple has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for their infant daughter’s death.

Media outlets report 36-year-old Jordan Hodson and 35-year-old Sara Elizabeth Hodson were sentenced Wednesday in Mackenna Hodson’s death on charges of fatal child neglect.

Mackenna Hodson died of septic shock poisoning from an untreated hole in her stomach in 2012. Prosecutor Donnie Myers says an autopsy found evidence of previous bone fractures and methamphetamine in her system.

He says a search of the Hodson’s home found evidence of an active methamphetamine lab in a bedroom, where the infant’s crib was located.

Despite evidence of past injuries, the baby never saw a doctor after her birth Oct. 1, 2012, until her parents brought her to a doctor’s office Dec. 11, 2012. Makenna was pronounced dead at a hospital later that day.
