COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina’s unemployment rate was unchanged again in February.

The Department of Employment and Workforce said Friday the unemployment rate was 5.5 percent last month.

The South Carolina jobless rate has been unchanged for six month.

The agency said nearly 13,000 more people found jobs in February. South Carolina has nearly 2.2 million people working.

The national unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9 percent last month.

The trade, transportation and utility segment added about 3,500 jobs in February. The leisure and hospitality sector added 3,100 jobs.

The professional and business services sector dropped 6,700 jobs.

Bamberg County had the highest unemployment rate in February at 10 percent. Both Lexington and Charleston counties at the lowest rate at 4.5 percent.
