ARUNDEL, Maine (AP) - Maine’s sugarhouses will open up all over the state this weekend for the Pine Tree State’s annual celebration of all things maple.

Maine Maple Sunday is the main event, but some of the sugarhouses will also be open on Saturday. The event is held on the fourth Sunday of the month in March ever year.

The sugarhouses offer visitors the opportunity to try freshly made maple syrup, take tours of the facilities and watch demonstrations about syrup production.

Mild weather allowed some of Maine’s maple producers to tap trees earlier than normal this year. Sugarhouses are expected to be open all over the state, from the New Hampshire border to the far northern reaches.
