ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities on Long Island say five taxi employees cheated their company out of $158,000 by keeping customers’ rides off the books.

Newsday reports (http://nwsdy.li/1QtAydZ ) a receptionist and four drivers were arrested Wednesday and charged with grand larceny, conspiracy and falsifying business records. Authorities say they stole fares form All Island Taxi in Rockville Centre over a five-year period from January 2011 to February 2016.

Police say the workers wouldn’t record calls and trips in the company’s business records and then would split the profits.

A dispatcher is also expected to be arrested.

A manager from the taxi company didn’t immediately comment to the newspaper.
