BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A public-private economic development agency wants to see $300 million in new capital investment and the creation of 600 new jobs across Bay County.

The Bay City Times reports (http://bit.ly/219oJ1s ) the goals are part of a three-year strategic plan being launched by Bay Future Inc. that includes a $1.2 million fundraising effort. Bay Future’s CEO Mark Litten says the slogan for the plan is: “‘The future is now.”

Bay Future wants to see the number of shovel-ready sites increased and create more opportunities for entrepreneurs. Parts of the plan are going to be unveiled March 9. On April 6, officials plan to launch the fundraising effort and detail the full strategic plan.

The newspaper says Bay Future’s top priority is retaining and helping existing businesses grow.
