BEAR GAP, Pa. (AP) - A central Pennsylvania police officer was injured after swerving to avoid a deer in the road and rolling his SUV squad car.

The News-Item reports (https://bit.ly/24OfwAx ) Ralpho Township officer Chris Dailey was trapped in his vehicle after shearing a utility pole in the Monday morning accident.

Police say his SUV came to rest on its roof on a roadway between the communities Overlook and Bear Gap.

Emergency responders freed Dailey, who was admitted to a Danville hospital and listed in fair condition.

The accident is under investigation.
