CHICAGO (AP) - A man who pleaded guilty to attempted murder charges in the 2012 wounding of a Chicago police officer has received a 25-year prison sentence.

Paris Sadler pleaded guilty Wednesday to shooting Del Pearson as the officer was chasing him down a South Side alley. Pearson and other officers had stopped to question Sadler and others for a possible curfew violation.

The 24-year-old Sadler did not make a statement before Cook County Circuit Judge Thaddeus Wilson sentenced him Thursday.

Pearson said he and his family are “happy” that they can finally move on to the next chapter of their lives. Members of Sadler’s family who attended the hearing refused to comment.
