MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minneapolis police are investigating whether the daytime shooting death of a man on the city’s north side is linked to a deadly shooting last week.

The man was shot to death Wednesday afternoon just north of Highway 55. The Star Tribune (http://strib.mn/1T98Lkt ) reports someone apparently opened fire on the vehicle he was riding in.

Witnesses say the shooting happened just blocks from where dozens of schoolchildren were being dismissed for the day from Seed Academy and Harvest Preparatory School.

Police have not released the victim’s name or age, or said how many suspects they are looking for.

Detectives are investigating whether the shooting was in retaliation for another shooting last week. In that shooting, someone sprayed a group of people with gunfire in north Minneapolis, killing one and wounding seven.
