LYMAN, Maine (AP) - Maine state police say a Massachusetts man likely hid a bag of cocaine in his underwear and then stashed it under the backseat of a cruiser after being stopped for a motor vehicle violation.

The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1NDEPju ) that police stopped Franklin Salcedo of Lawrence, Massachusetts, Thursday night in Lyman because his license plate light was out. Police charged him with operating without a license.

He consented to a search of his car, but no drugs were found.

Authorities say when the trooper returned to his cruiser after booking Salcedo, he found a bag containing 13 grams of cocaine under the back seat.

Salcedo is being held on $2,000 bail on the drug charge. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
