PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a blaze at a northern New York apartment building that killed two men and left a woman with serious injuries.

Officials in the city of Plattsburgh say the fire was reported around 4 a.m. Sunday at a multi-story brick apartment building. Heavy flames were coming from the back of the residence when fire crews arrived.

Officials identified the two men killed as Geoffrey Brenno and Joseph Congelosi, both 34. Police say the men lived in separate units in the building.

Congelosi’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Alyssa Upton, was taken to the Plattsburgh hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition in the intensive-care unit..

Another tenant, a 32-year-old man, was treated for smoke inhalation and released.
