FULTON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a woman is hospitalized after she fell off a cliff while hiking on a prominent upstate New York landmark.

The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office says 911 dispatchers received a call around 4 p.m. Sunday reporting a woman had fallen off a cliff on a geological feature known as Vroman’s Nose, in the town of Fulton 30 miles southwest of Albany.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the woman lying against a tree about 25 feet below the cliff.

Firefighters and the county search and rescue team members used ropes to get to the woman and carrying her to a trail, where she was transported in a vehicle to a waiting helicopter.

She was flown to Albany Medical Center. Neither the woman’s name nor information on her injuries has been released.
