CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The man accused in the death of a school teacher has pleaded guilty to multiple charges stemming from the incident.

Local media outlets report Angelo Smith pleaded guilty in a Mecklenburg County court on Thursday to voluntary manslaughter, first-degree kidnapping, concealment of a death and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Smith was sentenced to between 19 and 25 years in prison.

Authorities accused Smith of killing girlfriend Bianca Tanner and then hiding her body in 2014. He told police she left his house after they got into an argument over a text message. Her body was found several weeks after she was first reported missing. Smith was arrested in Chicago in July 2014.

The 31-year-old Tanner had moved to Charlotte from Greensboro with her 3-year-old son.
