MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Former Vanderbilt running back Brian Kimbrow has left Middle Tennessee’s football program.

Middle Tennessee athletic department spokesman Mark Owens confirmed Wednesday that Kimbrow had left the team and said the Vanderbilt transfer indicated he wasn’t interested in playing football anymore. The (Murfreesboro) Daily News Journal first reported Kimbrow’s departure.

Kimbrow rushed for a combined 754 yards his first two seasons at Vanderbilt but carried the ball only once in 2014 before being suspended indefinitely and eventually dismissed from the team. He had run for 413 yards in 2012 and 341 yards in 2013.

He transferred to Middle Tennessee this year and participated in spring practice with the Blue Raiders.
