CORALVILLE, Iowa (AP) - A man convicted of first-degree murder has died in a Coralville prison.

Officials with the Iowa Department of Corrections say 63-year-old Clayton Manning died Monday of bladder cancer. He was assigned to the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville and died in the center’s Hospice Care Unit.

Manning’s life sentence began in April 1981, after he was convicted of murder in Jackson County for arranging to have another man killed.
