GARDEN CITY, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say two suburban Detroit high school students were taken into custody after loaded guns were found at their school.

Garden City Public Schools Superintendent Derek Fisher says in a statement that it doesn’t appear that there was a plan to harm other students or staff members at Cambridge High School. He noted, however, that “any dangerous weapon, especially a firearm is cause for alarm.”

The Detroit News reports Fisher says they were taken into custody Tuesday after the school building was placed on lockdown that morning.

WDIV-TV reports a school administrator had become suspicious of the students’ behavior, prompting a search at the school. The station says one of the guns was found in the school and the other was found outside of the school but on school grounds.
