BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A 26-year-old man has been arraigned on second-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of another man inside a Buffalo barber shop in March.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office says Jermaine Watkins was also arraigned Wednesday on a criminal possession of a weapon charge in county court.

Prosecutors say Watkins fatally shot 24-year-old Kelvin Alexander of Buffalo on March 20 inside a second-floor barber shop on Genesee Street where a party was being held. Officials say the two men had argued before Watkins opened fire.

Watkins is being held in jail without bail. His defense attorney, Kevin Spitler, said Thursday he couldn’t comment on the charges because he hasn’t seen the indictment yet.
