FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - A woman that started a Fresno house fire that critically injured a firefighter when he fell through the roof has been sentenced to nine years in prison.

The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/23rLgrA ) that 53-year-old Julia Harper pleaded no contest to arson on Wednesday in connection to the March 2015 blaze that injured Fresno fire Capt. Pete Dern.

Dern fell through the garage roof while battling the fire Harper is accused of setting. He suffered second- and third-degree burns over 70 percent of his body. He was released from the hospital in September but has not yet returned to work.

Police say Harper lived at the house that caught fire. Police had been to the Fresno home hours before the fire started after Harper called them because of a verbal disturbance.
