GRETNA, La. (AP) - Prosecutors say a 44-year-old Grand Isle commercial fisherman with six convictions of driving under the influence has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his latest DUI conviction.

Rockey Burnham was sentenced Friday.

Burnham was arrested on April 28, 2015, after he crashed a boat into moored vessels and a shrimp dock, according to a news release from the Jefferson Parish district attorney’s office.

State wildlife agents found that Burnham did poorly on the field sobriety test and blood tests revealed drugs in his system, according to evidence presented at trial.

Prosecutors say Burnham will serve his sentence without the chance of parole, probation or a suspended sentence.

According to prosecutors, Burnham denied the latest charges and said the boat he was maneuvering had mechanical problems.
