LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Superior Court’s Mental Health Courthouse has been closed until further notice because of structural damage to the aging facility’s roof.

City News Service reported Thursday that all operations for the courthouse north of downtown are temporarily relocated to the Metropolitan Courthouse on Hill Street downtown.

Carolyn Kuhl, the presiding judge of LA’s Superior Court system, called the Mental Health Courthouse the worst courthouse in the state. She says it’s unlikely that court operations would resume at the damaged building, which was constructed in 1940 as a factory.

Officials say inspectors found damage to the roof after the property manager noticed sagging ceilings in some courtrooms.
