LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Latest on the stabbing death of a 3-year-old girl at a downtown Los Angeles clothing factory (all times local):

5:15 p.m.

A man charged with the stabbing death of a 3-year-old girl in a downtown Los Angeles factory in what police say was a random attack has been ordered held on $3 million bail.

Ricardo Utuy was charged Thursday with murder and attempted murder. His arraignment had been set for the same day, but it was postponed until Dec. 7.

It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.

The girl was with her parents Monday at the clothing factory where they and Utuy work.

She had left her mother to give her father a cookie, and that’s when prosecutors say Utuy attacked the girl, stabbing her multiple times with a knife.

The attempted-murder charge stems from a separate attack on a woman at another factory in March. Prosecutors say Utuy stabbed the woman and fled.

Utuy faces life in prison if convicted.

Police say they’ve connected a man being held on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 3-year-old girl in downtown Los Angeles with another attack.

The Los Angeles Police Department says an additional victim came forward after detectives released a photo of 34-year-old Ricardo Utuy.

Utuy was arrested Monday after a 3-year-old girl was fatally stabbed at a garment factory where her parents worked. Police say the attack was random and that Utuy had only recently begun working at the facility.

It’s unclear if Utuy has an attorney.

Detectives didn’t provide details of the other alleged attack connected to Utuy, but said they’re looking for additional victims.

As for the motive in the girl’s stabbing, investigators have said Utuy was acting strangely beforehand but didn’t immediately know why.
