BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - The city of Biloxi has received $2.6 million in rent money paid by the Golden Nugget Casino - money that had been inadvertently put into the state general fund.

The Sun-Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2cTIZFn ) that the city gets $3.2 million a year in rent from the casino. But the money is collected by the state and earlier this year it was placed in the general fund.

As of Friday, the bulk of the money had been paid to the city. And a settlement agreement with Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann calls for the remaining $606,000 to be paid when the state Legislature session begins in January.
