CUMBERLAND, Maine (AP) - Maine’s agricultural fair season is wrapping up for the year with the Cumberland County Fair, where the annual pumpkin weigh-off and Maine Wild Blueberry Cake Contest have taken center stage.

Maine hosts a battery of food and farm fairs every summer and early fall. This year’s began in Mapleton in June and ends in Cumberland on Saturday.

The Cumberland County Fair dates to 1871 and also includes horse and ox pulling and harness racing. Most of the fair concludes on Saturday, but there is a day for harness racing only on Sunday.

This year’s Cumberland fair began on Sunday, which was when the blueberry cake contest took place.
