LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A grand jury has indicted four suspects in the killing of a Las Cruces man last month.

Prosecutors say 19-year-old Damika Childs, 24-year-old Adrian Banda, 22-year-old Alejandro Ruiz and 33-year-old Gregory Saaverda each have been charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, aggravated arson and other charges.

All four are being held without bond in a Dona Ana County jail.

New Mexico State Police responded to the Dona Ana Mountains about a vehicle fire on Sept. 22 and found the burned body of a man in the car’s trunk.

The body was later identified as that of 20-year-old Johnny Ramirez.

The four defendants also are accused of kidnapping a second victim, duct-taped her to the steering wheel of the burning car and stabbing her in the neck.

The woman survived and escaped.
