NEW YORK CITY (AP) - The son of a Virginia Beach woman who was found dead in her home has been arrested in New York City.

New York Police Department Sgt. Brendan Ryan tells local media that police were investigating a vehicle that 42-year-old James Baker Twyman II was in at about 10 a.m. Wednesday and discovered that it had been reported stolen. They also found that Twyman was wanted on a charge of violating probation in Virginia.

Ryan says Twyman is being held as a fugitive in another state and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.

Twyman’s mother, 72-year-old Olive Twyman, was found dead at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday in her Virginia Beach home. The death was classified as a homicide on Tuesday, but police haven’t released a cause of death.

It’s unclear if James Twyman has an attorney.
