DETROIT (AP) - This year’s Thanksgiving Day parade in Detroit will see a new float from the DTE Energy Foundation.

The float that’s titled “Caring for our Environment” is being unveiled Wednesday by the philanthropic arm of Detroit-based utility DTE Energy Co.

Designed in partnership with the DTE Energy Foundation and built by The Parade Co., it features an 18-foot canoe, a wind turbine that elevates to 22 feet and an eagle with a 12-foot wingspan. The float also features a DTE employee volunteer planting a tree.

More than 100 volunteers hand-sculpted and painted more than 1,000 flowers that will be displayed on the float for the 90th America’s Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van. This year’s theme of the parade, which takes place Nov. 24, is “90 Years Together.”
